Stumped
I was asked by a radio talk show host: “What makes your book so unique?”
I was stumped (not the first time). I had to think fast. “Well … if you boil it down you could say it’s Christian fiction with a purpose.”
“Explain what you mean,” he said.
“I’ve been writing murder mysteries with theology. I know that sounds strange. But it’s a passion I have now.”
“Well, I’ve gotta tell you, after reading it, you certainly have a passion for it. I read the reviews before reading it, and must say … they’re all accurate. Those scenes in the prison … that’s where the book turns from a religious mystery into a thriller.”
“I hope you liked the faith themes in the book.”
“I did. And I gotta tell you, I didn’t feel at all like you shoved them in my face. They were a natural part of the story. And I learned a lot of new things.”
I said, “I don’t want to put you on the spot, but like, tell me something you learned.”
“The best part was when you talked about the soul. What it means to have a soul. Oh, and, the scene where Martha asks about evil … where it comes from. Those were eye-opening for me.”
“Blah, blah, blah …”
